The main objective of NATO is to safeguard the freedom and security of all its members by political and military means.
The greatest responsibility of the alliance is to protect and defend NATO's territory and populations.
NATO's Article 5 states that an attack on one member is an attack on all.
The official languages of the NATO are English, French.
The headquarters of NATO is situated in Brussels, Belgium.
In this case, article 8 of NATO come into force.
If any NATO member attacks another NATO member, it breaks article 8 of NATO and therefore will be expelled from NATO. Then the expelled country will be treated as a non-NATO country.
India is not a member of NATO because India is located in Asia, and NATO is the North Atlantic treaty organization. Also, India is not a signatory of any military treaty.
