Directions: In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumption is/are implicit in the statement.

1. Statement: The government has recently hiked the prices of diesel and petrol to reduce the oil pool deficit.
Assumptions:
(I). The amount earned by this increase may be substantial enough to reduce the deficit.
(II). There may be wide spread protests against the price hike.
